Our
Philosophy
Music and movement play important roles in our lives. Whether it be grooving in the kitchen, dancing at a party, a bridal waltz or simply kids choreographing dances in the playground with their friends. We are born to move.
Dance classes offer the unique opportunity to explore and perfect ways in which we can move our bodies. This exploration comes with the added benefits of increased body confidence, fitness, socialisation and the discipline to set a goal and work toward its achievement.
While most students are children, our aim is to help all dancers to develop a love of movement that will last them a lifetime. To do this, we tailor our lessons so that those who wish to strive for perfection can but they are able to do so alongside those who just want to have fun. In this way, all personalities and abilities are catered for allowing all students to have a positive experience of dance.
Principal Teacher
Madonna Moore
Madonna has taught dance in and around Miles since 2001.
Growing up, she studied numerous styles of dancing and achieved her "Advanced" certificate in the Cecchetti method of Classical Ballet. During the last few years of her schooling, Madonna participated in monthly scholarship classes at the Qld Ballet Studios in West End and was selected to perform works choreographed by Shane Weatherby (principal dancer, QB) and Jaqi Pascoe (Australian and Queensland Ballet Companies).
Madonna went on to study a Bachelor of Education (Secondary PE), graduating with honours. This has given her a thorough knowledge of anatomy, physiology and biomechanics with a particular focus on childhood and adolescent training and injury prevention.
In 2021 Madonna became an Affiliate Member of the Australian Teachers of Dancing (ATOD) and is now able to offer exams to interested students.

Teachers

Tonita Taylor
Miss T has had a passion for dance from an early age, attending classes such as Jazz, Tap, Ballroom, Contemporary and Ballet throughout the years. In 2017, taking a step up from student, she started teaching ATOD syllabus classes including Jazz, Ballet, Tap and Hip Hop as well as becoming a certified Acro Dance Teacher. In addition to dancing, Miss T is heavily involved in the Miles Regional Arts Council - a volunteer community group with a passion for bringing all forms of the Arts to the Miles District. You can normally find her either performing on stage or behind the Tech Desk. Her expertise in sound and lighting, gained through a family business, saw her play a fundamental role in the upgrade of the lighting system at the William Miles Memorial Hall - enhancing performances in the hall and introducing tech loving students to more up to date live performance systems and their complexities. Miss T started with Madonna Moore's Academy of Dance in 2020 as a student and teacher and has been instrumental in bringing dance to our more rural students.
